OVERVIEW

Redesign of VIP's POS mobile application using our design system.

  • Take our current workflow and create a mobile version of our POS application

  • Create prototypes and test with current users to get feedback

  • Make any updates/changes based on users input

RESEARCH

I conducted a through content audit and created site maps of the current POS application website to get an understanding of the users workflow. The focus was to take web application and create a mobile design. Below are several screens shots of the original POS application.

TESTING

To validate the re-design of the POS application, I created a prototype and usability test. I asked 9 users to complete 4 different tasks of ordering through the POS app. All participants were able to successfully complete each task while providing feedback of the design.

We  recorded the user tests using Lookback, which gave us the ability to go back and re-watch each user test if needed.

A NEW PROBLEM

After the re-design of the application was developed and being used by current users, a new problem arose. A user needed an easier way to search and filter through their items. I need to help improve filtering and searching when users have many items to search through.

RESEARCH

First, I researched applications like Amazon, Best Buy, Peloton Apparel  and Costco to see how each application used their filter and search action. Below are examples of the search action within those applications I researched.

Below are a few screen designs of the search/filter action in the updated application. I used the Peloton Appearal layout as inspiration when the user selects on a single item to get a detailed view. I ended up using our search/filter action that was already designed in the new designs.
